Whether you’re visiting West Palm Beach or are a local looking for fun weekend activities, finding the best things to do in the area is probably at the top of your list. No matter your age, abilities, or interests, the area has so many diverse options to offer. Below, U.S. Pave has compiled our list of the best things to do and see in West Palm Beach.

Downtown West Palm Beach

Nestled in the historical heart of the city is Downtown West Palm Beach. Although the surrounding communities have been built more recently, the downtown area has been thriving since 1894. Begin your journey at the intersection of Flagler Drive and walk west along the Intracoastal Waterway on Clematis Street. During the day, you’ll find boutiques, restaurants, and historic landmarks. In the evening, the restaurants and nightclubs come alive with music and dancing. Additional activities include markets, tours, parks, and shows.

Outdoor Markets

Markets are an ideal activity if you’re looking to take a leisurely stroll and aren’t on a strict schedule. Even better, you can find treasures of all kinds at the outdoor markets available in West Palm Beach.

West Palm Beach Antique and Flea Market

The West Palm Beach Antique and Flea Market is a popular spot for anyone looking for treasures. Open November through May from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the market features more than forty vendors with antiques, fine jewelry, furniture, clothing, and other unique collectibles.

West Palm Beach GreenMarket

On Saturdays from October through April, enjoy gorgeous waterfront views while shopping at the West Palm Beach GreenMarket between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. You’ll find an extensive list of vendors selling a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, baked bread, native and tropical plants, pasta, and so much more. Enjoy entertainment while you shop. The best part? Parking is free at the City Center, Sapodilla, and Clematis Street garages during market hours.

Tours

If you’re hoping to be guided around town and are ready to learn a thing or two, check out any of West Palm Beach’s tours to discover all the city has to offer.

Segway Tours

Take a spin on your own personal Segway during their guided Segway Tours of Downtown West Palm Waterfront and Palm Beach Island. Tours last two hours and are ideal for most people aged 14 and older. Your tour will roll along the Flagler Waterfront past Meyer Amphitheater and across the bridge to Palm Beach Island.

Check out historic landmarks, such as the Royal Poinciana Plaza, Seagull Cottage, and the Flagler Museum, while you learn fun facts about each stop. Take in the sights of the awe-inspiring landscape as you pass Lake Trail, Bradley Park, and the Four Arts Society Sculpture Gardens on your self-balancing Segway. No experience is required for this tour, and you’ll quickly learn how to utilize your personal transporter before setting off.

West Palm Beach Food Tours

The Downtown West Palm Beach Food Tour allows you to experience all the flavors of South Florida in the span of a walking tour lasting two hours and 45 minutes. You and up to 14 of your closest friends can look forward to a large lunch with tastings from five different restaurants.

Start with a guava and cheese pastelito from Welome, then head over to E.R. Bradley’s for a Mahi fish taco. Next, you’ll walk to Pistache on the waterfront to enjoy brunch and a French croque monsieur. Take a coffee break at Salento Coffee and enjoy some pandebono with your mug of tinto. Kapow is the next stop, where you’ll nosh on a Thai donut and sip on a blueberry lavender mojito before diving into General Tso’s cauliflower and a pork potsticker. Finish with dessert from Ganache Bakery, featuring their key lime pie with a dash of coconuts and tamarinds.

Fern Street Chess Park

Fern Street Chess Park is the perfect stop for a chess match with other like-minded individuals. It’s free to play, and all ages and ability levels are welcome. Open daily from sunrise to sunset, this park provides community connections and the mental challenge that you’ve been looking for. Bring your own chess board, pieces, and timer, or use those provided. Don’t forget to keep the space as clean and beautiful as you found it.

Water Activities

Thanks to its ideal location on the waterfront, West Palm Beach has plenty of activities to enjoy in and on the water. Kayaking tours, cruises, and snorkeling await you.

Kayak Tours

Looking for a way to get active and enjoy the water? Check out the Sunrise Kayak Tour or the Sunset Kayak Tour to enjoy the wildlife, landscape, and views of the skyline. Guests should be at least 12 years old, and inexperienced kayakers should ride in tandem with another member of the group. There’s always a possibility of getting wet, so dress accordingly, including wearing beach shoes. You’ll receive a towel, a dry bag for your cell phone, and bottled water during the tour.

Cruises

Book a two-hour Sightseeing Cruise featuring breathtaking views of the beautiful Palm Beaches along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Spend 120 minutes on the Sunset Catamaran Cruise and take in the West Palm Beach skyline and views of Palm Beach Island. While aboard, you can look forward to a variety of beverages and comfortable seating that even allows you to dangle your feet in the water.

Snorkeling

Check out the world-famous snorkel trail under the Blue Heron Bridge located just south of Phil Foster Park Beach. This Guided Snorkel Tour explores the reef area and is protected from boat traffic, so it’s perfect for SCUBA divers of all skill levels.
